Honey Looms is a small Sri Lankan clothing brand founded by Lakshi Walisundara, a graduate of the University of Plymouth (UK) majoring in international business. She lives in Sri Lanka. We, Ekwayamu, have supported Lakshi in the expansion of her business. Honey Looms Clothing took the first step by exploring local stores. They managed to source fabrics from local stores and support local traders. Most of the fabrics are biodegradable, compostable and made from natural fibers such as linen. The garments use fabrics that are disposed of in large factories.
For the washing, cleaning and sewing process, Lakshmi hired women from the neighborhood for a daily wage and provided them with food and essentials for their families.
