Organic fertilizer for farmer family

Ekwayamu supports farmers directly in the purchase of seeds and organic fertilizer. The farmers are obliged to pay back 10% of their sales to Ekwayamu after selling their harvest.Ekwayamu does not want to generate dependencies, but to support farmers to regain an economic foothold in these very difficult times.

Supporting young professionals

It sometimes takes very little to support people who have skills, who want to work, so that with this help they can immediately move forward in their professional lives. Ekwayamu helps directly, simply and uncomplicatedly. For example, by purchasing the necessary work equipment for Sachin Diluka. Support for micro-projects and startups Ekwayamu wants to help quickly and without complications. Whether someone needs a laptop for their micro-business or livestock is a valuable purchase for a farmer, Ekwayamu can and will help. Sachin Diluka: Young IT professional who needed appropriate work tools to perform his job. Fresh graduates, school leavers are attracted to startups because they offer a variety of opportunities to learn, prosper, and be adaptable in an unstructured, yet-to-be-defined environment. No one provides more job chances than startups and other young businesses as they account for roughly half of all new jobs available in the country. We believe that like any other crisis, we can overcome this by giving an opportunity for innovation and young talents. Providing initial start-up costs Helping with preparing the project plan Helping the young generation pursue entrepreneurship by giving them advice on their ideas. Encouraging the unemployed population to set up their own business

Together against hunger – Review of the 2022 Christmas campaign

Around 1.7 million children are affected by the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka. Thanks to your help, Ekwayamu was able to provide around 640 children in three different regions of Sri Lanka with a Christmas dinner last year. Let’s work together to make something similar possible this Christmas. https://test.ekwayamu.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/VID-20231001-WA0006-1.mp4

News about the goat shelter

We are so happy to announce some news from our farming Project, where we support for a goat shelter. Find the Video and ask us questions about this amazing Project. https://test.ekwayamu.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/2023-07-10-Project-Report-1.mp4 Translation for the video: With the support of Ekwayamu, the construction of the goat shelter could begin at the end of June. First, the overgrown area was cleared so that the construction manager could identify the best place for the goat shelter. It took some time to get the 16-foot high concrete pillars in place. Sri Lanka is still suffering greatly from inflation and the economic crisis, so it was a major undertaking to even get these concrete pillars. The concrete pillars had to be carried about 300m from the road to the farmland, which was very strenuous work. Setting up these pillars is the first phase for this goat project in Sri Lanka. The second phase will be to build the roof on the pillars and lay the foundation on the ground. Ultimately, it will provide space for about 30 goats. The project manager Werner Reith thanks Ekwayamu for her valuable contribution.

Honey Loom Clothing Project

It sometimes takes very little to support people who have skills, who want to work, so that with this help they can immediately move forward in their professional lives. The Honey Looms brand has created with the goal of developing a brand for our customers who value style, but do not want it to come at the expense of their community or the environment. I had a strong desire to create a brand that utilized the talents of local seamstresses without exploiting them. I wanted to move away from the usual fast fashion production and towards a respectful and conscious production method where every garment is made with sustainability in mind.” – Lakshi Walisundara,  Ekwayamu helps directly, simply and straightforwardly. For example, by helping Lakshi to realize her dream. Honey Looms is a small Sri Lankan clothing brand founded by Lakshi Walisundara, a graduate of the University of Plymouth (UK) majoring in international business. She lives in Sri Lanka. We, Ekwayamu, have supported Lakshi in the expansion of her business. Honey Looms Clothing took the first step by exploring local stores. They managed to source fabrics from local stores and support local traders. Most of the fabrics are biodegradable, compostable and made from natural fibers such as linen. The garments use fabrics that are disposed of in large factories. For the washing, cleaning and sewing process, Lakshmi hired women from the neighborhood for a daily wage and provided them with food and essentials for their families. https://test.ekwayamu.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2023-Lakshi-Cloth-Project-1.mp4

The success story of Sarath and Brownie in this Christmas season.

Sarath & Brownie

This Christmas ekwayamu decided to return life to brownie and her baby while giving Sarath, a new hope for his family’s future. Sarah is an enthusiastic work who came to ekwayamu asking for an opportunity to help him sustain his livelihood. We at ekwayamu decided to visit a slaughterhouse to save a cow and hand it over to Sarath so he could sell her excess milk to the villagers and find a way to afford his necessities. Brownie is a pregnant cow, and Sarath the farmer knows exactly how to take care of her and he makes Bownie and her baby live freely and safe.Brownie was easily familiarized in her new home and enjoyed her first meal after days of starvation. We are so grateful to have our wonderful volunteers who made this a success. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2023! https://test.ekwayamu.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/A-sucsess-story-from-Sarath-and-Brownie.qt

Supporting a Walsen childern’s home

The project was carried out with the support of Compassion Asia and Youth Inspire, while Bespoke Holdings and Eight Star Power Rent a Car Private limited provided logistical support. It was implemented by the One Year in Mission Sri Lanka. This Orphanage was situated at Khatagasdigiliya Ihala Halmillawa Mukkiriyawa Village. This food drive provides food for 55 children and 7 staff members. Many other orphanages in rural areas of the country are in need of dire help and are often left unseen.

Sponsorship for Buwani and Litini

With a sponsorship, the education of Buwani and Litini could be secured until they turn 18. The noble godmother or godfather would thus significantly relieve the single mother. She would be grateful to you from the bottom of her heart.

Search for farmers in need of help

By providing organic fertilisers and seeds for selected districts, we will increase long-term crop output, enhance long-term soil fertility which will result in helping the people easy access organic vegetables, fruits, and rice without having to depend on imported food with high costs. This project will also reduce rural poverty and reduce chemical fertiliser imports resulting in improved standard of living for the farming families and Sri Lankan population.
